Automatic KTM Timing Chain Tensioner for RC4, RF4, and XC4 engines.

SKU: TCT-KTM Category:

The Dirt Tricks KTM Timing Chain Tensioner resolves issues with a slack timing chain on the new 4-stroke motors. The 2008 and newer four-stroke KTMs (and some earlier SX models) use a timing chain tensioning device intended to develop its force using the engine oil pressure hydraulically. The OEM components have serious flaws, which can leave the timing chain in a slack condition. This can have disastrous consequences. The Founder of Dirt Tricks developed the KTM Timing Chain Tensioner as a simple, effective, and fail-safe replacement for the OEM tensioner. It correctly captures the oil pressure and uses a positive mechanical ratcheting system to prevent it from collapsing. If you have a “ticking” noise at idle, on your newer 4-stroke, you need this part. Our tensioner will work on all newer 4-strokes in 250, 400, 450, 505, 530 models using the RC4, XC4, or RF4 motor (not for the RFS motors).

    2014 450sx?

    • dirttricks

Hello, thanks for your question. KTM has reverted back to the old RFS motor, ratcheting style tensioner on the 2014 450SXF. Therefore, our tensioner will not fit this motor. The good news is, this ratcheting tensioner works well and is very reliable. Thanks!

Hi, what about a ktm 450 six days 2013, which one do i need .?

    • dirttricks

Hello and thanks for the note. The 2013 450 XCF-W has also been redesigned by KTM and uses the older “RFS” ratcheting style tensioner. Our part is not needed for this model.

    2014 450EXC???

    • dirttricks

Hello and thanks for the question. The 450EXC should have the same motor as the U.S. 450XCFW. KTM has redesigned these motors and brought back the old RFS style ratcheting style cam-chain tensioner. Therefore, our unit will not fit your bike. The good news is that these ratcheting style tensioners work very well so you should have no problems with the OEM part.

    HI ! Valid from ktm 250 exc-f 2014? Thank`s.

    • dirttricks

Hello, the 2014 U.S. model 250XCF-W should be the same as the EXC found in other parts of the world. This motor has not been updated to the same platform as the 350 like the SXF and XCF’s have been. Therefore, it should use our original part TCT-KTM. If it has been updated to the same motor as the 350’s use, then it would then use our TC-2 part. Thanks.

Hi do you have them for Husaberg 2013 FE450, thanks

    • dirttricks

Hello, we do not show listing for a (2013) FE450 as being available in the USA. We do however have a listing for a (2011) FE450 and the motor has to be identical. Provided that is correct, our TCT-KTM is the correct part. Being that the Berg motor is nearly horizontal, the tensioner sits nearly vertical at the top of the motor. This requires special attention during installation which our installation instructions describe. In a nutshell, you must lay your bike over on its side in an effort to get the motor as close to horizontal with the ground as you can to ensure our part remains fully collapsed during installation. If you have any additional questions, please contact us at sales@dirttricks.com. Thanks!

This is the only tensioner to run in a KTM. It is the best 90 bucks you’ll put in your bike. If you are going to check and adjust your valves in the future, order one of these before you do so.
